Off the Cuff

Thought Leadership Videos for Brilliant but Busy People

Staying visible and engaged with your audience online is more crucial than ever. But let's face it – not everyone has the time or video production skills to churn out high-quality video content consistently.

That’s where we come in.

Off the Cuff is a turnkey video production service designed by Rep Cap for busy thought leaders who want to enhance their digital presence without spending a day tied down in a traditional studio. We’ve been providing this service for our agency clients for years as part of our full-service content retainers, but we’re now offering it as a standalone service for individual thought leaders:

  • Entrepreneurs whose marketing teams don't yet have video content capabilities.
  • Executives who want to invest in their personal brand.
  • Professional speakers looking for a steady source of fresh video content beyond recordings of their keynotes.
  • Authors who’d like a partner to translate their ideas from written word into snackable videos.

Our proven journalistic process helps you get all those brilliant ideas out of your head and into the world fast. Best of all: No script required. All you have to do is show up and be charming.

The Power of Video for B2B Thought Leadership

Nobody wants to read your 40-page “white paper” anymore.

But they will come to your TED Talk.

And they will watch your LinkedIn videos.

If you want your ideas to take hold today, it’s time to get in front of the camera. Social video, in particular,  has emerged as a powerful tool for thought leadership, offering a dynamic and immersive way to share insights, inspire change, and build trust at scale.

Enhanced Engagement: Videos have a unique ability to capture and hold people’s attention.

This preference for video content translates into higher engagement rates, making it an ideal format for thought leaders to share their insights and ideas.

Higher ROI: Short-form video offers the highest ROI right now of any content marketing format and will see the most growth of any marketing content format in 2024, according to HubSpot’s 2024 State of Marketing & Trends Report. This is true of LinkedIn, as well as TikTok, Facebook and Instagram.

More Memorable Messaging: The visual and auditory elements of video content make it more memorable than text-based content. For thought leaders, this means that their key messages and ideas are more likely to stick with their audience, fostering deeper connections and understanding.

How It Works

  1. Book Your Session: When you’re ready to get started, you’ll use our simple booking system to schedule and pay for your 2-hour remote interview session. Check your email for a calendar invite with a link to your personal recording studio in Riverside, our remote recording platform, as well as our favorite tips for looking and sounding great on remote recordings. (Why do we require prepayment?)
  2. Complete the Pre-Interview Brief: Fill out a short form to share your social media handles, your goals and any topics you want to make sure we cover. You’ll also upload your brand guidelines and any existing logo or video files. (What if I don’t have any brand guidelines?)
  3. Pop in for Your Interview: You’ll be greeted by two people from our team: an experienced business journalist, who will come prepared with questions to get the conversation going, and a skilled multimedia producer, who will make sure you look and sound your best. You can repeat yourself, do instant retakes, practice different ways of talking about your work. This is a NO SCRIPT ZONE. (Can I meet my journalist and producer ahead of time?)
  4. Edit Your Best Cuts: Immediately after the interview, we’ll identify the 15-20 best rough cuts of up to 2 minutes each and share the videos for your review via Riverside. With your approval, we’ll then edit them into polished videos, incorporating your branding and following best practices for each social channel.
  5. Share with Confidence: We’ll email you a link to a Google Drive folder that contains your edited videos in landscape, vertical and square formats, branded thumbnails for each format, and human-edited captions, as well as your raw footage. You've now got a month's worth of thought leadership video content, ready to go! (Can you help me upload and schedule the content?)

Book your Next Session! When you’re ready to come back, just let us know. As a returning customer, you’ll enjoy preferential scheduling options and a 10% discount on new sessions going forward.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why do you require payment upfront when I book?

minus icon

Your payment secures your booking session with our producer and kicks off our investment in preparing to interview you. We also do this for your benefit – knowing you’ve made this investment incentivizes you to keep this commitment to developing your personal brand.

How much time will this require from me?

plus icon

We recommend setting aside about 4 hours total for each session, including 1 hour for preparing, 2 hours for the interview, and 1 hour to review and approve your videos.

Are the interviewer and producer in the video with me?

plus icon

Nope, only you appear in the final videos. Riverside records us all on separate tracks.

Can I meet my journalist and producer ahead of time?

plus icon

Absolutely! If you’d like to set up a brief introduction meeting prior to booking your recording session, please use this booking link.

Can I have a say in the editing process?

plus icon

You always have approval over the final videos. But in keeping with the goal of protecting your time,  we keep the graphics simple and limit feedback to two rounds of revisions on the editing. If you’re looking for something more custom, let us know and we’ll scope that out as a different sort of engagement.

What if I *really* hate the videos?

plus icon

If you’re not satisfied after two rounds of revisions, we’ll refund all or part of your money. (Note: In the case of a full refund, we will also retain ownership of the original recording files.)

What if I can’t make my scheduled session?

plus icon

You may reschedule once, ideally with at least two business days notice.

What if I change my mind and want to cancel?

plus icon

Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the scheduled interview session are fully refundable. Cancellations made within 48 hours are subject to a 50% cancellation fee.

How can I best prepare for my interview‌?

plus icon

We'll provide you with preparation tips and best practices to ensure you're ready and comfortable for your interview. But mostly, you just need to come ready to have a good conversation!

How long will it take to receive my videos after the session?

plus icon

Your videos can be final as soon as 2 business days after your interview, assuming you provide prompt feedback on the rough cut selections.

Can you help me upload and publish my content?

plus icon

Alas, that falls outside the scope of this service. But we won’t leave you hanging! Schedule a call with one of Rep Cap’s content marketing specialists, who can provide a quote for your comprehensive social media management.

How do I ensure the videos align with my brand?

plus icon

We rely on the brand guidelines you share with us to ensure every video reflects your identity consistently.

Can I request specific topics for my videos?

plus icon

Absolutely. You can either share ideas for topics in advance or just let us know at the beginning of the interview.

Do I need a special camera or microphone?

plus icon

A professional-grade mic and camera are nice to have, but not strictly necessary. Riverside, our remote recording platform, can even record using your smartphone. (The new cameras are pretty sweet!)

Are the videos shot in 4K quality?

plus icon

Our remote recording platform, Riverside, can record 4K quality if your camera can capture it!

Do I own the rights to the videos?

plus icon

Yes, you retain full ownership of your video recordings and edited videos.

What if my equipment or internet connection fails and I’m unable to complete my interview?

plus icon

We do recommend having a backup plan, but if necessary, we can reschedule one time.

What if I don’t have any brand guidelines?

plus icon

This service is best for thought leaders who have developed at least basic branding for their businesses. If you need foundational marketing support, we can scope that out separately.

Can I schedule my boss for this service?

plus icon

Absolutely. We’ll do our best to make you look like a genius.

What if I want to schedule multiple members of my team?

plus icon
